Friends & Friendships

1974

Kay Dick brought together this collection of interviews with key writers of her time. Friends with her and with each other, they speak frankly and at length about their lives and their work:

Brigid Brophy • Maureen Duffy • Isobel English • Gillian Freeman • Pamela Hansford Johnson • Francis King • Olivia Manning

Kay concludes the book with a thoughtful description of her own childhood and extraordinary upbringing, describing how she came to be a writer. She also reflects on the very concept of friendship and recognises the importance of her own friends, especially at the time of her attempted suicide when their comfort and affection helped her rediscover a will to live.
